What we buy

Most of the cars we take have simply reached the end of the road: high mileage, a failing transmission, rust through the rockers, or a repair quote that costs more than the car is worth. But that's only part of it.

We buy wrecked and total-loss vehicles, including ones already carrying a salvage title. Cars that won't start, whatever the reason — dead battery, seized engine, no keys, flat tires, sitting since 2019. Trucks, vans and SUVs, which usually bring more than a small sedan because there's more recoverable weight in them. Flood and fire damage. Cars that have already been picked over for parts. Vehicles that failed emissions and were never going to pass.

We also handle fleet and lot clearances for landlords, property managers and small businesses with several vehicles to move at once. Abandoned cars in a building lot involve extra paperwork, but it's a road we've been down many times.

What your car is worth

The honest answer is that it depends, and anyone quoting you a firm number before seeing the details is guessing. What actually drives the price is weight first, then year, make and model, then whether anything on the vehicle is still worth reselling. A heavy SUV with a dead engine frequently beats a light sedan that still drives.

Scrap metal prices also move week to week. If you got a quote six months ago and shelved the idea, it's worth asking again — the number may have changed in either direction.

What we won't do is quote you one figure on the phone and a lower one when the truck arrives. The number we give you is based on what you tell us, so describe the car accurately and the number holds.

Selling without a title

This stops more people than anything else, and it usually shouldn't. In most situations we can still buy your car with your photo ID and something showing the vehicle is yours — an old registration, an insurance card, a bill of sale.

Some cases genuinely don't work. A car still under a loan is the common one, because the lender holds an interest in it. Tell us the situation on the phone and you'll get a straight answer in under a minute, rather than finding out after a truck has already driven out to you.

What happens to the car

People ask, and it's a fair question when you're handing a vehicle to a stranger. Fluids get drained and handled to spec — oil, coolant, fuel, brake fluid. The battery comes out and goes to a recycler. Tires are separated. Anything still serviceable gets pulled for reuse, and the shell is crushed and sent for scrap steel.

Your paperwork doesn't ride along with it. Take everything out of the glovebox and console before we arrive, keep your plates, and file a seller's report of sale with the Illinois Secretary of State afterwards so the vehicle is formally off your name.

Why people call us instead of the other guy

A lot of what advertises as junk car removal in Chicago doesn't own a single truck. Those outfits collect your details, sell them on to two or three yards, and you spend the next week fielding calls from strangers. We own the trucks, we run the yard on South Michigan Avenue, and the person who quotes your car is on the same crew that shows up to tow it.

Towing is free and never comes off your offer. If someone quotes you a number and then mentions a tow fee, that isn't the same number. And we answer the phone at any hour — most yards close at six, which is no help at all when your car dies on a Tuesday night.
